I love cheerful and inspiring cards – both to receive and send and, of course, to make. So when I got an email asking if I wanted to test the webshop KaartWereld where I could order some cards (and add to my collection a little bit), I couldn’t say no. Especially not because then I also had (and took!) the chance to have my own designed card printed and that was still on my wish list.
KaartWereld is an online shop where you have a very wide choice of themes so there is something for everyone. Looking for another birthday card, birth announcement card or perhaps Christmas cards? Then you can go wild at KaartWereld because they have a lot of great stuff at the moment. I personally am quite fond of inspirational texts combined with fun illustrations, so I absolutely loved the cards from SandySign. I had to restrain myself from ordering everything from her. So I made only a small selection from more than 100 of her cards.
Besides SandySign, Kaartwereld has a lot of collections that are hard to choose from, such as Geertje Burgers, Olli and Jeujeu and Studio inkfish?
KaartWereld is part of Webprint.nl and the cards are thus printed including text and address information, making it very easy to order a last-minute card for the birthday boy tomorrow, for example. Because we all have times when we (almost) forget a birthday and try to arrange something at the last minute, right? CardWorld is perfect then, you buy a card possibly with a gift and can pretend this was all planned. No one needs to know that you found out the night before that person’s birthday the next day! Ideal! 😉
Fun gifts they definitely have like wine and chocolate (always do well!), jewelry and super cute balloons. I was still hesitating whether to go for the Minion balloon, but threw it out of my shopping cart at the last minute. Because well, buying a balloon for myself might be a little weird and what am I supposed to do with it anyway….
I do regret that I didn’t see the Frozen and Minions mug when I went to place the order (and that I’ve come across them now!) because I would have really liked them.
How does the ordering process work?
Ordering is actually quite simple. You choose a card, go through the steps including adding a personal text, then choose the shipping method and enter an address. That’s it! By the way, this also applies if you have your own card made, as these steps are the same only you have to upload your own photo.
You do have several ways of shipping, including having the card (or gift) sent directly to the recipient or having a package of cards delivered to your home. I chose the latter option at the recommendation of KaartWereld because, of course, I did not want an address on the envelope or card. For this, you do pay additional fees per package, which is actually a shame. In fact, I had a number of “packages” with only one card and thus still had to pay additional package fees. An option to have everything sent in one package would then be ideal, because that would also save a lot of envelopes being sent containing only one card. Better for the environment and better for the wallet. With this option, by the way, you can also order stamps with it so you have them at home.
The nice thing is also that you can order the cards in a variety of sizes. For example, with most you have the postcard or greeting card option and then you can choose from three sizes – standard, large and super large. So if you want to treat someone to a giant A4-sized card, you can do that too. Bet you score points then!
Another tip: if you’re going to order make an account right away because then the tickets cost less too!
How is the quality?
The quality I am very pleased with. The cards look beautiful (glossy like a photo though) but the quality is tip-top. Sharp, beautiful colors and printed on sturdy paper. I haven’t had any text or address printed on most of the cards, because I so want to send them at another time, but I have already had “Greetings Naomi” printed on some of them and this too just looks super. No broken pixels, no weird colors but just really top notch! What I do regret on one hand is that they are so glossy because I like matte colors, but oh well, that’s a personal preference.
Design your own card
I couldn’t resist – I SO wanted to have a card I designed printed and tested. Only the process did not run completely smoothly. For example, I couldn’t find the right submission formats so I started over several times. Fortunately, I make everything in Illustrator so I was able to very simply scale everything with no loss of quality and re-upload it to then see if it did match and in the end it worked out that way. Yay!
When you upload a photo you also get to see a quality meter but I don’t quite understand how it is rated either. Because so I had saved my card in 300DPI quality (the best print quality) and even then it was not completely green. So I think this has to do with the size but so I couldn’t find that. Anyway, I was finally able to order my own card and that was a bit exciting. How would this one come out?
I must honestly confess that my expectations were not too high. This way of printing is of course much cheaper than going to a real printer because you can choose the paper and way of printing there. That is not the case here. Again, the first thing I noticed was the huge sheen over the card. I think this stands out more because it has a dark background (That’s why taking a picture was so difficult! All the light was on it.) On the cards with a white background, it is less distracting so I don’t mind it. I also see some scratches on some of the cards and the edges are not quite neat due to cutting. BUT otherwise, the colors are as I would have liked them and both the image and text are well and sharply rendered. So on these points they do score super!
Would you like to receive a card from me?
I have had my own designed card printed several times and I would love immensely if I could send it to you. If you would like to receive it, please send me an email with your address information so I can mail it to you. 🙂 Address will be removed after the ticket is sent.
Conclusion
I am very satisfied with my placed order. I have a lot of cute cards to hang up as inspiration ánd of course to send to family and friends. I will definitely use KaartWereld in the future should I be late sending a birthday card again and then I’ll include a nice gift with it. For printing, I still prefer to go to another printer because I have more choice on how the card should look.
Would you also like to have a card sent with a gift included now? Then be sure to check out KaartWereld‘s collection, guaranteed you can find something you like.
