I have days when I spend about 12 hours at the computer but it still sometimes happens that I have (had) no time to answer my mail extensively. No time, but sometimes no desire either. I am very honest about that, occasionally I don’t like answering mail at all especially because it is often so time consuming. But if I put on a good piece of music, I fly through it in no time too hear so I always try (sometimes with some delay that is, haha!).
I found myself checking my email late at night or suddenly having inspiration for an article but my computer was already shut down. Typing a long message on my phone or tablet is no fun at all, so I often did it reluctantly. So I was actually looking for something I could use with my Samsung Tab 4.0 (10.1) tablet. If I dive into bed with Netflix after a day of work and an important email comes in, I often want to answer it right away (even if it’s outside of work hours). Or maybe I’ll suddenly have inspiration to finish that last bit of text for an article (there are currently 8 articles as drafts so I’m busy!). Now I knew that keyboards exist for your tablet but I had never really thought about it that much. Until I saw this one pass by on GSMPunt and full of curiosity I clicked on.
I ended up with the Samsung Keyboard Book Cover in the Bronze version. After some consultation with GSMPunt, I was allowed to test this keyboard, so no sooner said than done. And how happy I am about it! Besides the fact that I think it’s super beautiful it also fits my tablet perfectly. I have taken it on the train several times so I could finish my mail there and this worked ideally. Actually a lot faster than when I do it with my laptop (because: less distracted).
The keyboard pairs very easily with your tablet via bluetooth. You first turn on bluetooth on your tablet, turn on the keyboard and then press the button for it to connect. Then you enter a code (this is a one-time thing because it is saved) and you can get started!
The keyboard types very nicely – I feel almost no difference from my laptop’s keyboard. Of course, it’s a lot smaller but I don’t experience any problems with it. You can also set hotkeys with it but I haven’t actually done that yet and haven’t really needed to.
Built into the keyboard is a stand where you can put the tablet. In itself this works fine but that means I have to take the tablet out of my case to set it down like this. Since I can also put down in my case in a certain way, I don’t use that built-in stand on the keyboard. So I can detach my tablet from the keyboard and sit – so to speak – a meter away from it and then start typing. I do think that’s ideal! This way I can sit comfortably on my bed with my tablet in front of me and the keyboard on my lap so I can type an article or email in no time. The fact that there are no cables with it and that it works on bluetooth is also super to me. In fact, my parents also have a keyboard for their tablet but it still works with cables that, by the way, were always in the way.
Another plus is that the keyboard serves as a cover. So you can put the tablet in the built-in stand and then fold it so it looks just like a mini-laptop. Only I don’t use this because of the cover I already have on it.
I am very satisfied with this keyboard and it helps me tremendously to still be productive in the late hours (or when I don’t feel like turning on my computer for once). GSMPunt’s service, by the way, is very top notch. Within one business day, I had the keyboard in my home and was able to use it that same evening. The bronze version currently costs €69.95 and the white version with (rose) gold trim is a lot more expensive, at €99.95.
