For the last few weeks, I spent virtually all my days off and weekends just sitting at the computer. Sometimes from the time I got up to the time I was getting ready to go back to sleep. It got a little out of hand and in addition to the pounding headache, it also gave me massive eye strain. Slightly dimming my monitor helped, but the headache did not go away and on top of that, I had a hard time falling asleep (read: not!). So all in all, something had to change, and in addition to reducing my “work hours,” I went looking for computer glasses. I had heard about it many times but had never really thought about it that much that this might be the solution for me. And I can tell you, it certainly was!
Polette – fun eyewear at an affordable price
After a little search, I ended up at Polette – a fairly new webshop where you can buy a variety of prescription glasses, lenses and computer glasses for a normal price. The prices are really not too bad and this is because there is no middleman, as the frames and lenses come directly from the workshop. In addition, Polette also does not keep large inventories which allows the price to remain low. So you actually pay the factory price that can range between €9.99 and €49.99. Very nice prices aren’t they? Lenses are also available, by the way, and these prices range from €9.99 and €89.99.
E-Polette – Protect your eyes from computer screens
Did you know that the blue light from your computer, tablet and cell phone is bad for your eyes? The blue light disturbs the production of melatonin this is exactly what you need for a good night’s sleep, among other things. In addition, there may be high stress on your retina, which can cause you to see spots. This can worsen and even lead to blindness! So time to start protecting my eyes from this blue light and opt for computer glasses.
Computer glasses have slightly tinted polarized lenses that reproduce natural light, and combined with the filter that blocks 40% of blue light, you are therefore optimally protecting your eyes from that blue light.
The E-Polette glasses have a light yellow filter that you don’t notice while wearing. It filters 40% of blue light and thus ensures that melatonin production is not disrupted. This not only protects your day-night rhythm but also your eyes! The glasses are available from €19.99 with a variety of fun frames.
I am not used to glasses so I had to get quite used to wearing them, but also to storing them neatly in a place without scratching them. So just putting it somewhere like I’m used to with things is not in the cards! So I included a case beforehand so that the glasses would stay neat and thus not get scratches easily.
Do I notice a difference?
I don’t actually dare add up the hours I spend at the computer, but if I had to make an estimate it’s easily about 10-12 hours on a day off from my regular job. This is because, of course, I often work on projects, write blog articles, try to help bloggers with problems or watch television shows/movies from time to time. So the fact that I get headaches from it and sleep poorly is actually a logical consequence of this. When I wear the glasses I have at first that I have to get used to them, it seems like my eyes can suddenly relax and they are not used to it. After a while, I feel the tension pull away and I don’t suffer from anything anymore! Now it is true that I also force myself to take more breaks, however, on days when I do take the breaks and don’t wear the glasses, I thus get headaches and strain on my eyes more quickly. So it does work!
In short, by wearing the computer glasses I have less to almost no eye strain, no more stabbing headaches and I can also get a good night’s sleep. I am completely sold!
Only disadvantage of this frame (but maybe it’s just my glasses) is that it is written on my face. I don’t know if this can still be resolved because the frame has no nose pad, so I’ll have to figure this out. Other than that, I am very satisfied with my E-Polette and now can’t live without it!
The glasses I have are the Brooklyn model, they cost €39.99. Shipping takes approximately between two to three weeks. Do you also want computer glasses, prescription glasses or lenses? Polette has a wide and fun selection at an affordable price.
